The Liverpool Tapestry:
People, Places and Passions
As part of the Capital of Culture year, many examples of modern
art appeared in the city. ‘Turning the Place Over’ was not only
a literal translation of the phrase, but a phenomenal piece of
engineering where a section of building was mounted onto a
mechanism which revolved an entire section of building within
and without the original building, but which was so cleanly cut
it completely filled its original footprint at one point during the
rotation. It proved to be so popular it was retained beyond the
original year as intended.
